Meeting with Conchita

A few weeks ago, I met with a lady named Conchita. Conchita is a beautiful petite 91 year old woman, whom despite having memory difficulties is full of life. She was born and raised in Mexico and came to the United States to go to school. She earned a Bachelors degree in Business and later went on to earn a Masters degree in Spanish. She has seven children; five boys and two girls. In addition she also has 6 grandchildren. Ironically all but one are girls. For our first meeting we spent the majority of our time getting to know each other. She enjoys the sunrise community because of the enormous amount of activities and flexibility. She is very active she likes to participate in the morning exercise classes which I took part in with her. She likes to go on walks and enjoy the outside environment. I really enjoyed this first visit. I felt rewarded for volunteering my time. I never realized how important volunteers are wanted and needed. Conchita was such a delight and I look forward to getting to know her further.
